Jeanocide
This piece was created to bring an awareness to the toxic relationship between fast fashion and climate change while simultaneously shining a light on the recent attacks on Palestine.
Using pre-loved and donated denim lead artist and nwär founder, Constance Willoughby created a vertically linear wall hanging emphasizing the amount of clothing and textile waste that is dumped into landfills yearly, the number of jeans used to create this piece and the months it takes for a single pair of jeans to biodegrade.
Constance hopes that this and similar artworks help spark conversation that can inspire a change in sustainability in art, fashion and beyond.
Media - Denim, oak, early American stain, acrylic paint
